Julian’s Inspiring Jump Rope Transformation

We’re back this week with another inspirational body transformation from one of the awesome members of the Jump Rope Dudes community. This week, we’re featuring Julian: a guy who didn’t give fitness and health much thought until life came at him fast. After a wake up call that shook him to his core, he decided to take control of his health and life. We’ll show you how he was able to transform his body and teach you to do the same!

Julian’s Story:

Julian had a scary wake up call 3 years ago when his brother got in a motorcycle accident and the doctor said the only reason he survived was because of his great cardiovascular health. At the time Julian was in really bad shape and realized that if he were in that accident, he wouldn’t be alive. He knew he had to do something about his health so he started browsing fitness channels and found the Jump Rope Dudes. He realized that many of the greatest athletes out there use jump rope as part of their fitness regimen so he decided to give it a shot. He started doing some research and found out that jumping rope can burn an insane amount of calories so from that day forward, he committed to the program.

How Julian Did It

Julian started by checking out our beginner tutorials and learning the basic techniques and skills for jumping rope. Once he got the basics down, he joined our free 4-week challenge and started following our nutrition protocol. After he started to get the hang of it, he moved on to more advanced jump rope workouts.

What made the biggest difference for Julian was that he was finally having fun working out. He started to look forward to waking up and jumping rope every single day. He loves jumping rope so much and has made it an integral part of his life so he bought a CrossRope to make his training even better. He felt like having a great rope made all the difference when it came to enjoying the workouts and making jumping rope easier.

When it came to nutrition, Julian dialed in his eating habits to reach his weight loss goals. Since Julian’s main goal was to shed fat, he had to eat in a calorie deficit, which meant he was eating fewer calories than he was expending. To figure out exactly how many calories you should consume each day (like he did), check out our free Nutrition Calculator. It’s a really simple tool that lets you enter your information including weight, height and fitness goals and it’ll tell you exactly how many calories and macronutrients to consume. Once you have those numbers, you can use an app like My Fitness Pal to track what you eat and make sure you hit those target numbers.

Another technique Julian used to lose fat was intermittent fasting. This technique doesn’t change what kinds of food you eat, but rather when you eat it. The idea is that by shortening the window in which you eat food, your body can burn more fat instead of glucose which leads to increased weight loss. We recommend fasting for 16 hours per day and eating during an 8-hour window. We typically eat from noon to 8pm and then fast from 8pm until noon the following day.
